The Orange County Groom’s Guide to Getting Married

Getting married to the woman you love is no doubt a wonderful experience, but planning the whole thing is not all that fun. The good news is that planning your wedding need not be as difficult as understanding women. Breaking up the whole process into smaller steps helps in simplifying it. Let’s start at the beginning.

The Ring is the Beginning

If you are thinking about marriage, the first step is to pop the question. And who proposes without a ring? Don’t even think of it!

So the first step is to buy your girlfriend the ring she would love. This can be a fun activity if you enjoy being the detective and doing things covertly. You may have to rope in your girl’s best friend or a close family member who can help you figure out what type of ring she wants. Ask questions to get answers. If she wants a solitaire, what kind of cut does she prefer? How many carats should the diamond be? And so on.

All this you can find out without a lot of difficulty. The trickiest part is to get her ring size. Asking her would be easy, but getting her to try a ring without her realizing the actual reason behind it is more exciting. And challenging too.

Do You Have a Budget?

After the engagement comes real work. Men may not always think about the wedding, but women (at least most of them) dream about it. The trick about setting a wedding budget is to try to give your girl the dream wedding without getting into debt. Yes, it is going to a tough task but it is possible. Also, it is not worth borrowing a lot of money and spending it all on a single day. The best way would be to discuss it with your fiancé and create a win-win situation.

The Venue and Who’s Going To Be There

Once the date is set, select a venue and book it as soon as possible. Getting the venue of your choice may not always be easy so if you have a place in mind, put in the advance and block it. Wedding venues in Orange County are plentiful, but the top ones get booked quickly. And if it is your responsibility to book the venue, especially one that your fiancé really likes, you have to be doubly sure that you book it for the big day (yes, there are men who actually forget to book the venue for their own wedding and don’t realize it till the last moment). Also, decide together who you want at the wedding and who you don’t.

Dress to Impress Your Bride

Your wedding day is a big day and you should look your best next to your beautiful bride. So don’t put off picking up a tux till the last moment. Buy one that suits you well, and ensure that the dress is all set – clean and ironed and ready for the ceremony. Pick up shoes to go with it, and wear them at home so you’ll be comfortable in them on the big day.

You Can Dance

You may not be much of a dancer but you don’t want to disappoint your wife by stepping on her feet during your first dance as husband and wife. So take time and practice a few steps with her. Or better, take dancing lessons and surprise her on the big day. That is sure to bring a smile to her face.
